Food vendors at Magill Campus providing fresh new options

UniSA students returning to Magill campus this week will be met with an almost unrecognisable A Building after extensive renovations were completed over the summer.

Along with a fresh new dining area and student lounge, the campus has welcomed two new food vendors serving up both classic favourites and exciting new options.

Pop-up cafe, Since I Met Harry, offers all-day breakfast and ready-to-go rolls and salads, as well as a drinks menu that includes coffee, tea, freshly-squeezed juices, smoothies, and milkshakes.

All menu items are reasonably priced; you can grab a small locally roasted coffee from $3 or some smashed avocado for $10.50.

In contrast, Phat Buddha Rolls serves fresh Cambodian street food, with an exciting menu containing rolls, salads, burgers and traditional Cambodian dishes.

Phat Buddha Rolls are all about providing authentic and tasty meals and love to see their customers happy and smiling, just like Buddha.

Both food vendors offer vegan and gluten-free options, and Since I Met Harry offer soy, almond, coconut and Zymil milk for an extra dollar.

USASA Magill Student Representative, Ryan Colsey, said there was strong student dissatisfaction with the previous food options and believes the changes will have a positive impact on students.

“There is now so much more for students to do in the Hub. I think we’ll see students hanging around on campus for longer, which is ultimately a win-win for everyone.”

“Unicast Student Radio now plays in the Hub which is uplifting for the students that produce radio, and something I pushed for really hard last year. I’m keen for Phat Buddha Rolls, and the new lounge area looks great,” he said.

The revamp appears to have student approval, with both current and past students responding positively to photos of the new area posted on the UniSA Magill Campus Facebook page.

Enjoying a Nutella cookie from Since I Met Harry, one student was impressed with the simplicity of the space and said it is a huge improvement on what was there previously.

Trading hours for Since I Met Harry are 7.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday, and Phat Buddha Rolls is open from 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday.
