Are you and your fur baby inseparable?
Does the thought of being apart from your pooch hurt you to your very core?
Well, if your anything like me, the answer is a big, fat yes. Leaving your fur baby behind can be rough.
No one likes that feeling when you gather your things to go out for the day and look into the eyes of your precious pooch, who stares back at you with raised eyebrows and a hint of sadness in their eyes.
Ideally, if we could, we would take our pets with us everywhere we go.
Luckily for us, however, a new pet-friendly ride option, Uber Pet, has launched in Adelaide.
After launching in most cities around Australia, Uber Pet is providing pet owners who may not have their own car or access to pet-friendly public transport a means to travel.
Uber Pets can get you and your furry friend from A to B – whether it is to the vet, the doggy park or cat café. In my opinion, it really is a win-win situation.
Currently, Uber has no strict policies or guidelines regarding pets other than Uber drivers being legally obliged to provide support and transportation for service animals.
However, for avid Uber users, transporting their pets has proven to be difficult previously, since some drivers may choose to accept pets, while others may not.
In a statement by Uber Australia they said, “This new product gives riders peace of mind that their much-loved companions will be welcomed along for a comfortable and reliable ride.”
Uber Australia believes the launch of Uber Pet not only provides satisfaction for pet owners, but also for drivers who decide to pick up furry friends with another opportunity to earn more.
However, there is a slight catch: Uber Pet trips will attract a $6-$7 ‘pet fee’ on top of the standard fare.
According to a FAQ page on Uber Australia’s site, where Uber Pet is already in market, passengers are also liable for a cleaning charge if pet waste or “excessive” hair is left behind.
So, just like if you spill your food or drink in an Uber vehicle, if your pet makes a mess, a fee will apply.
The launch of Uber Pets comes at a great time allowing pets and their owners the flexibility to get out and about, especially now during the winter months.
As a mum to fur babies, I find it reassuring to know that I have the option to bring them along for the ride.
Now available in your Uber app as a separate option—alongside UberX, Comfort and Pool—Uber Pet will match you with a driver who is happy to have pets in their vehicles.
So where will you be travelling with your pet?
